PRN Lab Technician

Job Title: PRN Lab Technician 
Location: Sincera Urgent Care, Pella, Iowa 
 
Job Summary:
Sincera Urgent Care in Pella, Iowa, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Lab Technician to join our healthcare team. The Lab Technician will be responsible for conducting various laboratory tests and procedures to support the diagnosis and treatment of patients. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
 
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect, process, and analyze biological specimens such as blood, urine, and swabs.
- Perform routine laboratory tests and procedures, including but not limited to hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, and microbiology.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of test results to healthcare providers.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure proper functioning and accuracy.
- Follow all safety and quality control procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Document and record all test results and procedures accurately in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Assist with inventory management, including ordering and stocking laboratory supplies.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare providers and patients regarding test procedures and results.
- Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives within the laboratory.
- Stay current with advances in laboratory techniques and technology through continuing education and training.
 
Qualifications:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Technologist (MT) by a recognized certifying body (e.g., ASCP, AMT).
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working in a clinical laboratory setting, preferably in an urgent care or outpatient environment.
- Proficiency with laboratory equipment and software, including EHR systems.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in performing laboratory tests and recording results.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and infection control procedures.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with point-of-care testing (POCT) in an urgent care setting.
- Familiarity with CLIA and OSHA regulations.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus.
 
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position with variable shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Fast-paced urgent care environment with exposure to biological and chemical hazards.
- Physical demands include standing for long periods, lifting and handling laboratory equipment, and performing repetitive tasks.
