About Us

Habitat for Humanity of Marion County has a mission of ensuring every person has a safe and affordable place to live. We work together with families, local communities, volunteers and business partners to overcome the barriers that prevent low-income and historically underserved families from accessing adequate, affordable shelter. Habitat for Humanity of Marion County has been serving this community since 1997, building or renovating more than 65 homes to sell to qualified homebuyers with an affordable, no-interest mortgage. The low monthly payment and only 1% downpayment requirement allows families with barriers to homeownership (low to moderate income, low or no credit score, lack of banking history) to achieve their dreams of owning a home. Part of the loan is even forgiven if the family stays in the home for 10 years.

We also have a Critical Home Repair program that helps keep people in their owner-occupied homes by alleviating critical health, life, and safety issues. Some recent projects include replacing aging roofs, rotting windows and doors, and faulty furnaces or even installing a ramp to make a home more accessible to elderly and disabled residents.
