Retail Pharmacy Technician

Provides support to the Pharmacist by assisting in filling prescriptions for patients as per doctor’s order. Provides friendly, fast and accurate processing of customer related transactions including, but not limited to; sales transactions, financing, returns, exchanges, and/or service requests. Responsible for packaging and shipping prescriptions, unpacking shipments, stocking medications, replenishing supplies, tracking inventory, general housekeeping, and data entry related to the previous functions.

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • High school graduate.
  • Must be able and willing to complete Certified Pharmacy Tech program within 1 year of employment. Must be a registered Pharmacy Tech (within 1 year of employment) and in good standing with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy, Owner(s) and with all 3rd Party Payers.
  • 2-3 years of experience preferred.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Heart Code BLS required.  New employees certify within three (3) months after hire date.
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
  • High degree of empathetic listening, tact and kindness toward others.
  • Ability to communicate well verbally.  Must work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Skilled with basic mathematics: addition, subtraction, addition and multiplication;   Able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Strong computer knowledge
  • Technical skills associated with duties listed within this job description.  Must be competent in all assigned areas.
  • Willingness to complete further education or certification as required by the department.
  • Must demonstrate leadership and effective communication skills as required for this position.
