Lead Counselor
Job Description:
This is a benefits-eligible 10-month position - August-May
Function of Position:
Responsible to the Assistant Dean of Students, the Lead Counselor provides leadership for the counseling center, provides student counseling, and provides student mental health crisis intervention support
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership for the Central College Counseling Center services.
- Provide individual personal counseling to Central College students.
- Coordinate weekly counseling team consults meetings.
- Assist the Assistant Dean of Students in supervising and evaluating the counselor.
- Assist the campus emergency coordinator (Dean of Students) in coordinating mental health crisis intervention strategies for student emergencies, accidents, death, etc., by supporting the Student Crisis Response Team.
- Manage counseling vendor relationships and best practice tools (e.g., TAO, Titanium, CCMH, etc.).
- Review and update counseling services forms, documents, resources, etc.
- Continual assessment of counseling services offered within the context of a residential campus of approximately 1100 students.
- Collaborate with individuals across campus for training, updates, data analysis of the Central College community as deemed necessary and appropriate.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in counseling or related field plus a minimum of five (5) years of effective experience.
- Licensure as a mental health practitioner in the State of Iowa preferred
