Central Spirit Shoppe Manager
Job Description:
Central College is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Manager to support the day-to-day operations of our small, yet vibrant, on-campus Spirit Shoppe. This role includes oversight of in-store activities such as inventory control, merchandising, and staff supervision as well as management and expansion of online sales channels. The ideal candidate will be a team player with strong customer service skills, a passion for college spirit, and experience in both traditional retail and e-commerce operations.
- Oversee the point of sale (PoS) system, make updates, secure support from vendor.
- Working closely with the business office and marketing team, develops and coordinates marketing and sales promotion activities and prepares or directs workers preparing merchandise displays and advertising copy.
- Hire, train, and supervise part-time or student employees, supporting their professional growth and ensure compliance of employees with established security, sales and record-keeping procedures and practices.
- Responsible for inventory management, including pricing, receiving shipments, tagging, and restocking while ensuring merchandise is displayed to maximize sales and reflect brand identity.
- Manage online order fulfillment processes ensuring all product listings are accurate, up-to-date, and appealing.
- Engage with students, faculty, alumni, and the community to encourage school spirit and brand loyalty.
- Daily reconciling of cash registers, sales reports, and online transactions while working closely with the director to support budget tracking, cost control, and forecasting sales trends with regular reports on sales performance, inventory status, and operational issues.
- Attend college functions (e.g., sporting events, open houses, etc.) to promote the Spirit Shoppe and boost community engagement.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent (bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or related field preferred).
- Minimum of 2 years of retail, customer service, or supervisory experience; experience in e-commerce or online sales is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with retail operations, point-of-sale systems, and merchandising principles.
- Proficiency using e-commerce platforms and basic website content management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to connect with diverse audiences.
- Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail, with the capacity to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple responsibilities concurrently.
- Basic understanding of marketing tactics, including email campaigns and social media promotions.
- Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving capabilities.
- Positive, can-do attitude with a passion for school spirit and pride.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends (sporting events, homecoming, graduation, etc.), to meet store needs.
