Windmill Winterim Class - The Art of Spinning at Pella Historical Society
At 6:30pm, see and feel, the various steps from sheep to clothing at a presentation by Grace Tully, Loom House Curator, Kalona Historical Village. She will talk a bit about the history of spinning (it's older than the hills) and show ways to produce two different yarns. Pictures of cute sheep included!
At 7:30pm take a class on spindle spinning. Get the basics in a class with all materials (spindle and wools provided). This class is limited to 7 students.
Cost for the 6:30pm presentation is free to PHSM members or $5 for non-members and the 7:30pm class is limited to 7 people with a cost of $75 for PHSM members or $90 for non-members. Registration fee includes spindles to keep and various fibers to practice on. If you have your own spindle to bring, deduct $10 from the cost.
