Becoming Mrs. Sarah Jane Rousseau at Pella Public Library
Sarah Jane Rousseau was one of California’s more notable female pioneers. She is well-known for her contribution to United States History with her 1864 Overland-California diary about the Pella Company that features young celebrity lawmen in the Earp family. But before all that, Sarah was a member of England’s landed gentry and a highly accomplished piano player. After immigrating to the U. S. in the 1830s she became a sought-after schoolteacher and almost a First Lady.
Join Rousseau's descendant, Janelle Molony, for an exploration of the woman who authored the most exquisite Westward tale ever told.
