SUMMARY:Windmill Winterim - Just How Dutch Are We? with Pella Historical Society
DESCRIPTION:Perhaps you remember taking a survey about a year ago about the Dutch language and its carryover into America. The number of people from the Pella area who completed the survey was astounding\, and we invited the survey's authors to come tell us about their results.\n\n\n\nRachyl Hietpas is a PhD student in Linguistics at the University of Wisconsin Madison. A native of Little Chute\, WI\, Rachyl takes pride in her Dutch heritage and has been actively working to acquire the language. Charlotte Vanhecke\, PhD student in Linguistics\, is originally from Bruges\, Belgium\, and is a Dutch instructor at the University of Wisconsin. They invite you to delve into how you think about "Dutchness" while discussing what constitutes a modern Dutch heritage identity and how it is connected to language.\n\n\n\nFree and open to the public.
