Operations Support Supervisor

Reports to: Site Manager, President of the Company
Based at: Pella, IA
Position Type: Full Time – Non-Exempt
Days/Hours of Operation: Monday through Friday, some Saturdays and Sundays may be required.

Job Description:
The Operations Support Supervisor will be required to oversee a team of helpers and help facilitate the day-to-day duties associated with garbage and recycling collection, tote and dumpster maintenance, and any other jobs that will service our Midwest Sanitation Customers.  The supervisor will have the responsibility to train, oversee quality of work and ensure that everyone is working safely.  Common sense, professionalism, good judgement, problem resolution and good communication skills will be required.  

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Work in partnership with drivers and operations to ensure safe and efficient collections.
• Maintaining and practicing an open/honest communication process with staff and management.
• Maintain the high service quality the customer demands, and Midwest Sanitation expects.
• Effective Time and Situational Management
• Be able to supervise a team to meet the daily needs of the customers in our service areas.

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma and 2 years of relevant supervisory experience.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Must be able to commute to Pella.
• Work Location: In Person

Preferred Qualifications:

• Customer Service Experience
• Experience working in the Garbage industry.

Principle Responsibilities:

• Oversee the team of helpers to:
  • Push or Pull dumpsters/totes to the truck for service.
  • Deliver totes, dumpsters, and Port-o-Lets to customers, job sites and any where they have been ordered.
  • Assist others on an as-needed basis with heavy or bulky items.
  • Assist the drivers in special city-wide clean ups.
  • Inspect waste; remove unacceptable items as required.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
• Communicate regularly with management, customer service reps, drivers and helpers

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
• Subject to indoor/outdoor elements.
• Exposure to residential and commercial waste is possible.
• Exposure to high traffic conditions while outside the vehicle.
• Must be able to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays, and be available to address operational issues as business needs require.
