Top Five For Small Business: Top Five Ways to Create Culture for Your Competitive Advantage
This Top Five monthly series hosted by the Greater Des Moines Partnership which focuse on issues small businesses face daily. Kurt Pearson is the founder of Compass Financial Services. Kurt grew up as a small-town farm boy near Knoxville, Iowa. He attended UNI and graduated with a communications/business BA in 1983.
After seven years in the financial publishing field, Kurt moved to West Des Moines in 1990 with his wife Sandra and their four children.
Over the past three decades Kurt has been involved with leading numerous groups. He has served on the West Des Moines Chamber Board and as president for the West Des Moines Development Corporation. The College for Financial Planning bestowed the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation to Kurt in 1994, and in 1997 Kurt was accepted into the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute.
Kurt is well-known in central Iowa for his regular appearances on KCCI-NewsChannel 8, offering sound advice, calm perspectives and reassuring insight on various financial topics over the past 22 years. Kurt is a pilgrim who enjoys writing and he published his first book, Coram Deo in 2005. In recent days he has begun work on a second book which he hopes will present the depth and insightful perspectives of what he has learned from 22 years of listening to the wants, needs, desires, stories and life lessons of people he has encountered in the financial industry.
The PACE Alliance has arranged these events to be simulcast live each month at Central College from 12-1 pm. There is no fee to attend the group simulcast. If you would like a box lunch from Central Catering they are available for $10 (box lunch RSVP's need to be made to the Alliance office by 9 am the day prior to the event by registering above or calling our office 628-2626).
