PPBWF Forum featuring Eric Nelson & Sheila Graham with the Pella Community Schools
The Pella Professional and Business Women’s Forum (PPBWF) June meeting will feature guest speakers Eric Nelson and Sheila Graham from Pella Community High School speaking about the Career Academy.
Eric Nelson has been an administrator at Pella Community High since 2000. For ten years he was the assistant principal and became principal in 2010. Previously, he was a teacher and coach for seventeen years in four different schools. He graduated from Buena Vista University with Bachelor of Science degree and then on for his Masters of Science from Kansas State University, and Education Specialist from Drake University. Nelson’s wife is Director of the Education Opportunity Center at Indian Hills. The Nelson’s have three children, Paige is married with two daughters and is an elementary teacher in Waukee, Tanna is an elementary guidance counselor in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Sam works in Des Moines at Mediacom in Engineering.
Sheila Graham started teaching Welding at Pella Community High in 2013. She started at Vermeer and has enjoyed welding for 16 years. She is excited about inspiring students to explore this high-demand field during high school. Graham graduated from Marshalltown Community College for Small Business Practitioner in 2007 and has also completed several classes at the Vermeer University. Graham is also currently employed at Vermeer as a part time Welding Technician in the Weld Training Department. Graham has been married for 13 years and has 3 wonderful boys.
The June forum will be held Thursday, June 21, at the Pella Golf and Country Club, 600 Elm Street in Pella, from noon to 1:00 p.m. Lunch is provided in the $12.00 guest fee. Guests are encouraged to join with an annual membership if they desire. Information is available upon request.
PPBWF is a networking and professional development organization for women in Pella and the surrounding area. Members meet the third Thursday of each month (except August) for networking and learning from featured speakers. Membership is open to career-oriented and business women of all ages who are interested in enhancing their personal and professional life and forming valuable connections with other women in the community.
PPBWF helps members to:
- increase awareness of relevant issues
- share ideas - discuss problem solving techniques
- connect with professional development and community opportunities
