Dirty Wooden Shoe Cyclocross Race
The 7th Dirty Wooden Shoe cyclocross race will be held at South Overlook Park on the shores of Lake Red Rock. Races begin at 10 am with the masters category racers, and conclude at 2:30 pm with junior racers on both Saturday and Sunday. Cyclocross is a unique discipline of bicycle racing that requires riders to traverse a short course featuring a variety of terrain including pavement, grass, steep hills and obstacles. In some instances racers will have to dismount and run a short distance with their bicycles. Races last between 30 minutes and one hour depending on the category and age level of racers. This race has grown from a single day event with only 30 riders to an event that spans two days and includes over 100 racers. Riders from across Iowa and as far away as South Dakota will be racing this year.
